Research presentation Coralie Vogelaar & Marjolein Vogels

The work of artist Coralie Vogelaar consist of systematic studies revealing the mechanisms within our visual culture. She conducts them by using quantitative research methods like eye-tracking software, A/B testing and scraping tools. Her latest project revolves around the question ‘What are the characteristics of successful and unsuccessful news photos?’

Together with choreographer Marjolein Vogels one part of this research is translated into a movement study for nine dancers. This will result in a multi-channel video installation whereby the dancers move from one frozen position into another based on successful images in conjunction with a choreography based on unsuccessful images. On this evening, they will share their ideas on how to capture movement in video and present a little sneak preview of their upcoming project.

This project is made possible with the generous support of Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie en het AFK.
