Giulio D'Anna & Sara Anke Morris:

Studies for MAGENTA - Physical and Visual Traces

Last summer, WhyNot presented Study for MAGENTA by Giulio D'Anna, the final result of a 5 days choreographic laboratory in collaboration with De Tolhuistuin, and also part of a pre-study for D'Anna's upcoming work MAGENTA (2019).

Together with a group of performers, both amateurs and professionals, D'Anna researched ways to portraying intimacy and connection. This research led to a moving bodies installation in the garden of De Tolhuistuin. The laboratory in the garden produced images of individuals connecting and disconnecting with each other challenging the perception of individuality versus mass.

As ongoing part of Giulio’s research for MAGENTA (2019) at WhyNot festival there will be two different sets of studies. Visitors can encounter choreographic traces of MAGENTA research as a living installation with four performers in different spaces of De School, and visual traces by Sara Anke Morris, who captured the group movements during a short laboratory.
